Millions of online eBooks are available for purchase, and everyone wants to be noticed. With so many books, it can be hard to determine what steps should be taken to get your book in front of someone willing to purchase it. But it certainly is not impossible.
A crowded market (many published eBooks) doesn’t necessarily mean a competitive one (many people selling their books). Many authors struggle to sell their eBooks simply because they don’t know what they are doing and haven’t taken the time to create a selling strategy. However, you don’t have to be like them. If you consistently utilize these ten tips, your probability of success will be much higher despite the size of the crowd.
- Create an amazing cover!
I tell all of my clients that the book cover is the elevator pitch for your book. You can have jaw-dropping content, but the readers of the world will never know if you can’t convince them to pick it up. You know that saying, “Never judge a book by its cover?” In regard to publishing, you can throw that ideology out the window. Your work will certainly be judged by its cover.
- Invest in an editor.
Make sure that you have eliminated all of your spelling and grammar mistakes. You will find that readers will stop supporting you as an author if you continuously publish work that is full of errors. I always suggest hiring a professional. If you need an editor for something you are currently working on, check out www.iamediting.com.
- Make sure your social media accounts are active.
Don’t be afraid to tell the world you have created a book. It is a huge accomplishment. Besides, how can you expect someone to purchase your book if they don’t know you’ve published one? Use these platforms to help you get the word out.
- Use a blog to stay relevant.
Often, the reader becomes a fan of an author because they can relate to what the author writes or because of a personal connection the author makes with his or her fanbase. Once you have written your book, stay relevant and keep your fans entertained. Let your readers know what you are working on, how your children are doing, or even when you are going to buy that puppy you’ve always wanted.
- Write a praiseworthy book.
Take your time and write something worth reading. You don’t have to write your book in a day. Rome certainly wasn’t built in one day. Then, once you’re satisfied, get some beta readers to read your manuscript. Use their feedback as a roadmap to make changes to perfect your book before you hit the publish button.
- Consider using online marketing.
While the effectiveness of social media ads has mixed reviews, many have attested that they have worked wonders for their selling strategy. Remember, you probably won’t be successful if you don’t research your target audience. Also, you can look to invest in Amazon ads and Google ads. If you have a large budget, you may consider hiring a marketing team to handle the advertisement portion for you.
- Encourage your readers to leave book reviews.
Once you see that readers have started purchasing your book, ask them to leave reviews for you. Readers depend on them before making purchases. Chances are that a lot of friends and family members will buy them before anyone else does. Let them know how important their review is to your success so that you can increase the probability of others purchasing your book who may not be familiar with you or your work.
If you have never published a book before and are interested in doing so, I highly suggest you consider these seven tips. You don’t have to do this alone, though. I look forward to meeting you soon. Until next time, let’s write those eBooks!
